China Mobile subscribers can now top-up prepaid subscription with EZYrecharge via UMPay

InterAcct Solutions Group (IAS), a provider of mobile payment solutions using Unstructured Supplementary Services Data (USSD), has launched EZYrecharge, a prepaid top-up solution, in partnership with Chinese mobile payments services company, Union Mobile Pay (UMPay) for China Mobile.

This new prepaid recharge service for the largest cellular operator in China will cover three provinces and extend to more than 100 million subscribers in Beijing, Hebei, and Jilin. It is an extension of the China Mobile Wallet Management Service first launched in August 2008.

Speaking at the launch of the new service, Chris Eyles, Chief Executive Officer of IAS Group, said: “This is a positive endorsement of InterAcct Solutions’ technology and validates the robust and highly secure nature of our solutions. As mobile communications in China continue to expand, so will the demand for ubiquitous mobile commerce applications and transactions and that is our domain area of expertise.”

China remains the largest mobile market in the world with over 650 million subscribers growing on average 18% year on year.

Convenience and confidence

With InterAcct’s EZYrecharge prepaid top-up service, China Mobile prepaid subscribers can now top-up their prepaid accounts by a direct payment from a linked bank account. This cashless transaction, which takes place completely on the handset, is convenient and efficient for both subscribers and China Mobile.

Subscribers register for the service at any China Mobile retail outlet or participating bank branch. The customer simply provides their bank details, their mobile phone number and creates a mobile Personal Identification Number (mPIN) that is required to authenticate future transactions. Subscribers then have immediate access to a number of banking and payment services, including prepaid top-up, via a secure interactive menu on their existing mobile phone.
