Jurong Aromatics Corporation Pte. Ltd. (JAC), producer of aromatics and oil products, aims to enhance operational efficiency by deploying Motorola Solutions, Inc.’s Terrestrial Trunked Radio (TETRA) network under a multi-year Managed Services contract.
JAC is among forerunners in its league within Asia to deploy TETRA solutions. The deployment went operational in April 2014 at the company’s greenfield world-scale USD2.4b aromatics complex on Jurong Island, which serves a thriving energy and chemicals sector in Singapore.
Fully managed by Motorola Solutions, the new system allows JAC to focus on the mission of starting up the Complex and producing aromatics and oil products safely and efficiently.
The system also allows seamless communication with marine vessels at the jetty for the loading and unloading of products. Motorola Solutions runs the 24/7 command-and-control operations that includes monitoring of the system, as well as the escalation and handling of all fault escalation and issues.
Motorola Solutions will deploy and manage a 24/7, TETRA-based digital communications system for JAC on Jurong Island in Singapore. The system went live in operation in April 2014 to support JAC plant activities. The system comprises Motorola Dimetra TETRA Radio products such as the Mobile Switching Office (MSO), Base Stations, Mobile and Subscribers Radios and as well as provision of interfaces for communication with Marine Communication.
With the completion of its world-scale USD2.4b aromatics complex at Jurong Island in 2014, JAC expects to process 4.5 million tonnes of condensate feedstock annually which will produce 1.5 million tonnes of aromatics, comprising 800,000 tonnes per annum of paraxylene, 200,000 tonnes per annum of orthoxylene and 438,000 tonnes per annum of benzene. In addition, the complex will produce 2.5 million tonnes per annum of high value oil products.
“With our vision to be the most admired aromatics producer in Asia Pacific, our decision to adopt the TETRA system with Motorola providing managed services stems from the need to maintain 24/7 access to best-in-class resources for fail-safe and seamless communications in and out of our Complex,” said Lee Wei Meng, Corporate IT Manager, Jurong Aromatics Corporation. “This will allow us to focus on starting up the Complex in a most operationally efficient and productive manner.”
