Kroll Ontrack has announced a new subscription-based pricing model for its enterprise data eraser solution, Ontrack Eraser 4.0. Starting at $99.95, the new model offers customers a simple and flexible way to meet the specific data erasing needs of their business by purchasing the solution directly from the Kroll Ontrack online shop.
A 2013 Ponemon Institute survey of small to midsize businesses (SMBs) in the United States revealed that 55 percent of respondents had experienced a data breach, almost all involving compromised electronic records that could have been protected had data been wiped.
With the new subscription offering from Kroll Ontrack, companies can effectively erase data and prevent security breaches without the standard pay-per-erasure practice. Under the new model, customers can purchase Ontrack Eraser 4.0 for an unlimited number of users and data erasures for a full year.
“For small and medium-sized companies, the purchase price for data erasure software can be high. This, coupled with the traditional cost per erase model can put corporations over budget very quickly,” said CK Lee, Country Director Asia, Kroll Ontrack. “By providing our customers with a simple, flexible and affordable do-it-yourself option, we’re able to help corporations of all sizes protect their business.”
A 12-month subscription starts at $99.95 for companies with up to 50 employees, $249.95 for up to 250 employees and $459.95 for up to 500 employees. Ontrack Eraser 4.0 is capable of deleting data from VMware machines, ensuring corporations are securely deleting data from their virtual environments and therefore addressing the complete scope of their IT environment.
With enhanced system performance, the new version can perform over 200 concurrent device erasures to ensure the largest jobs are handled efficiently. Ontrack Eraser 4.0 is also capable of generating new reports that denote the hard drive make, serial number and model number, as well as the wipe algorithm applied to accomplish the job, providing corporations with the appropriate records for recycling centers and compliance requests.
Meanwhile, the new system authentication functionality to validate the erasure is conducted in the correct manner by the appropriate individual.
