File sharing service Dropbox is set to open a Sydney office – its first in the region.
According to a company statement the new office will enable Dropbox to better provide support and service to Australian users.
NSW deputy premier, Andrew Stoner, said Sydney was quickly building a reputation for as the hub for many of the world’s most advanced and innovative companies.
“Sydney is a natural home for Dropbox and our talented workforce will play a major part in the expanding Dropbox story as the company continues to build its international presence.”
Dropbox has 275 million users in 200 countries.
Dropbox chief executive, Dennis Woodside, said the new office would allow the company access to Australia’s great pool of talent.
According to a company statement, the initial goal of Dropbox’s Sydney office is to hire for a variety of positions particularly in customer-facing roles like sales and user operations.
The Sydney team will provide targeted support to the millions of Dropbox users in APAC and allow Dropbox to be even more accessible to the Australian businesses who have widely adopted the service, like Macquarie Group, Mirvac, and Atlassian.
Atlassian head of design, Jurgen Spangl, said Dropbox for Business helped designers gain real-time access to files to work together more efficiently, getting business done faster.
“In terms of workflow, the team just knows that the most up-to-date files live in Dropbox. We’re pleased to have Dropbox as neighbours here in Sydney.”
Macquarie Group, senior vice president, Stephen Yan, said, with multiple projects underway between our team and external suppliers, we had a genuine need for quick, convenient and efficient communications.
“Dropbox for Business helps our team share marketing materials and large multimedia files with vendors and media partners, while helping everyone in the team stay in sync.”
Mirvac national leasing co-ordinator, Joann Chung, said Dropbox for business enabled seamless document distribution.
“The Mirvac team spans across the country and Dropbox ensures they can access the most up-to-date materials at their fingertips,” she said.
“From Plans, to budgets, brochures and fact sheets, Dropbox has allowed us to instantly present the information to our customers on any device at any time.”
