VMware service providers in Japan adopt VMware NSX

NTT Communications (NTT Com) has adopted VMware NSX for its Cloud service infrastructure to expand across multiple cloud platforms. VMware NSX supports NTT Com to help customers deliver a platform solution with agility and without the complexity of a network re-design.

This is an expansion of VMware’s network virtualization usage from a previous announcement on NTT Com in June.

By incorporating VMware network virtualization into its cloud service, Enterprise Cloud (EC), NTT Com provides seamless and flexible connectivity between customer data centers and the NTT Com cloud without changing the IP addresses of a customer’s existing, on-premise environment. In addition, NTT Com has launched new service, Cloudn by incorporating VMware network virtualization. With VMware network virtualization, NTT Com delivers Cloud to customers, which covers multiple network segments and flexibly responses to outsourcing of enterprises’ complicated system into public cloud.

Additionally, NIFTY Corporation and Kanden System Solutions Co., Inc. (KSSOL) are participating in a beta customer program for VMware vSphere for VMware NSX.  These service providers have selected VMware network virtualization as their cloud platform of choice.

VMware NSX is a network virtualization platform that can deliver the entire networking and security model in software, decoupled from networking hardware. By virtualizing the network, VMware NSX can deliver a new operational model for networking that breaks through current physical network barriers and will enable data center operators to achieve significantly better speed and agility, while reducing costs.

VMware’s approach to network virtualization is similar to server virtualization in that it enables data center operators to treat their physical network as a pool of transport capacity that can be consumed and repurposed on-demand. Virtual networks are programmatically created, provisioned and managed, utilizing the underlying physical network for simple IP connectivity. VMware NSX will deliver the entire networking and security model (Layer 2 – Layer 7) in software.

VMware says it will continuously provide solutions designed to help organizations to accelerate their adoption of a Software-Defined Data Center architecture to simplify IT and take advantage of the value of advanced virtualization in areas such as networking and security, storage and availability, and management and automation.
