The Information Management Awards were an annual programme that recognised vendors of information security, storage and data management technology serving organisations in Asia. Organised by Questex Asia, the publisher of NetworkWorld Asia, the awards were first held in 2012 and were presented in Singapore each June. The 2018 edition was the seventh.
How winners were chosen
Each year began with nominations from vendors, their partners and resellers. NetworkWorld Asia’s editors drew up a shortlist of finalists, and more than 100 CIOs, heads of IT and security leaders from end-user organisations across the region voted for the winner in each category. The 2014 programme had 30 categories.
Winners received their awards at a ceremony in Singapore. The 2017 and 2018 ceremonies were held at the Singapore Marriott Tang Plaza Hotel, on 8 June 2017 and 6 June 2018.

What the categories covered
Categories followed the programme’s three areas. Security awards ranged from firewalls and secure access to vulnerability management and identity and authentication, while the storage and data management side took in analytics and managed cloud services. CyberArk’s 2014 award, for example, recognised its Privileged Account Security suite, and Tenable’s 2016 award went to SecurityCenter Continuous View.
A “most promising” category honoured the solution judged to have the greatest potential impact on its customers in future; Birst won it in 2015 against two other finalists.
Readers picked their own winners in a separate programme, the Readers’ Choice Product Excellence Awards.
